Essex League Record
Chingford were one of the 19 founder member Clubs when the Essex League began in 1972. The League was the brainchild of our own Ron Lynch, who served as League Chairman for many years. Chingford have also in the past supplied Fixture Secretaries to the League Committee in the shape of Bryan Knight and Michael Blake. Bryan Knight is a Life Vice President of the League in recognition of his services to the League for many years.
Clubs originally fielded two League elevens and when a 3rd Eleven League was added in 1979, Chingford entered an additional side. Growing demand for League Cricket from Club Members and an overall expansion in numbers saw Chingford add a 4th XI in 2004 and then a 5th XI in 2008. The 5th XI was subsequently withdrawn in 2015.
As a result of the pandemic in 2020 and uncertainty around travelling restrictions in the half of the season we were allowed to play, Chingford played in local divisions organised by the Essex League for three elevens.
