Chingford Cricket Club News story

Peter Joslin

12 Sep 2025

We have received the very sad news of the passing of Peter Joslin.

Peter was part of a cricketing family that have a made a huge contribution to Chingford CC, with his father George, his brother Phil and his nephews Andrew and David all donning the Club shirt with distinction. He was a graduate of the Colts Section which at the time produced a large number of future 1st xi regulars.

Peter was opening batsman for the 1st xi for many years in the 1980s and 1990s and batted with a classic technique but also was a tidy left arm medium pace seamer and he was awarded a Club Cap for being the youngest player to score at century at Forest Side (at that time).

Over 1.107 appearances he scored an incredible 26,729 runs for the Club which places him second in our all time run scorers and took 859 wickets which is eleventh in our all time wicket takers.

Peter was honoured with the Young Clubman Award in 1974 and The Jack Watson (Batting) Trophy in 1995 and 1996

Our thoughts are with the Joslin family at this difficult time

Details of the funeral will be placed here when known
