We are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Mitchell.
Jim was the Groundsman at Chingford CC for many years and following his retirement from the role continued to support the Club as a Patron. In recent times Jim could often be seen at the Club on a matchday enjoying a pint or two of his favourite bitter.
Jim's talents were not just confined to cricket pitches as he was a brilliant singer and spent lots of his spare time performing gigs which always attracted a good audience, including many performed at the Club - which helped considerably with fundraising.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Mitchell family at this difficult time.
Details of the funeral are:
Friday 20 March, 11am at City of London Crematorium
Dress code: In true Jim fashion, please feel free to wear band shirts, motorcycle gear, Arsenal apparel or bright clashing colours
After the service everyone is welcome to return to Chingford Cricket Club to celebrate Jim's life together.
The family have asked us to say that the support and donations that have already been raised thanks to people spreading the word have been incredible, and it means a huge amount to the family.
