Review of the 1981-82 Indoor Season
In the winter of 1981-1982 the Club became involved in Indoor Cricket on a regular basis for the first time, although a team had participated in a National Tournament at Lords in 1978. Two sides entered the Ilford and District Cricket Association's Indoor League. Matches were played at Loughton Hall and Wanstead Sports Centre.
A Team
The 'A' team, led by Jeff Runciman were entered into the 2nd division and won promotion to the 1st division at the first attempt. Runciman's side featured the following; Richard Alston, Peter Joslin, Richard MacGregor, Bill Birch, Cross, Stockton, Awan, Peter Coyte, Patel, Hainsby, Higgs, John Woodland, Jessop, Miell, Wilson Barr, M Kerr and Bear. Opponents were Wanstead A, Walthamstow, Woodford Wells, Snaresbrook, North Middlesex, Ilford, Fives & Heronians, South Loughton, Highams Park, Buckhurst Hill and Wanstead C. The playing record was Played 17 Won 7 Lost 10. Notable performances include MacGregor 3-9 v Woodford Wells, Miell 3-0 v North Middlesex
B Team
The 'B' team side featured the following; Bill Birch, Mike Blake, Iain Hastings, P Pritchard, I Throssell, M Kerr, Norgate, A Lewis and I Holmes. Opponents were Loughton, Buckhurst Hill, Fives & Heronians, Queen Mary College, Downshall, Highams Park, South Loughton and Layhall. The playing record was Played 9 Won 4 Lost 5. Notable performances include Hastings 4-7 v South Loughton.
