What exactly this was all about is unknown, but it is thought that with Tennis membership around 120 and a rapidly expanding Cricket Club that Forest Side was not considered big enough to accommodate the two sport Club.

President of The Chingford Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club was Rev AM Batty MA with the Cricket Captain WG Longden and Vice Captain HW (Bill) Riding.

Treasurer was Mr H Culpin and Hon Secretary Mr J Riding with there being a Club Committee and separate Cricket and Tennis sub-Committees.

Cricket subscriptions were 1/11/6 for Players and 10/6 for Honorary Members

There was a full fixture list starting on 1 May v Old Bancroftians and ending on 18 Sep v Air Ministry at Blackheath. The 2nd XI had a similar programme and there were two scheduled 3rd XI fixtures in mid-season. Whilst no Thursday XI matches are mentioned in the fixture card, details of two Thursday matches have been discovered.

The results summary of 1st XI games we know about is:

Won

Drawn

Lost

10

4

6

It appears that the weather was good as there were no cancelled games this year.

Two centuries were scored, Hector Munro made 130 v Epping on 5 June and in the return away match on 14 August Bill Riding scored 104 not out. E Good took 5-10 v Hoffman’s of Chelmsford  and H Culpin 5 wickets in the home match v Woodford Thursday.

In September the following report appeared in the press, indicating the unthinkable - football at Forest Side:

A general meeting of the Old Chingfordians was held at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel on Thursday last. The Secretary informed the members present that the use of the Chingford Cricket Ground had been obtained for the next season……As the other team has altered its name, it was decided that the club should be once more known as the Chingford Football Club
