Match report After the poor performance last week, a friendly was the ideal opportunity to get back on track. After winning the toss and deciding to bowl, the 5th’s had a chance to see how their bowling was this season. The opening pair of Jack Piper (fast & dangerous) & Chris Watson (controlled left arm swing) provided a solid start, taking 2 a piece. The first change bowling, of debutant Kash Rabbani, had equal success providing accurate control and movement. The spin of Andy Baker proved too much on another poor pitch for the batting of Hackney’s tail. Despite a good last wicket partnership, Hackney were restricted to 109. An impressive bowling performance from the 5th’s.
However, yet again a poor batting display let the team down. At 6 down for about 20, there was concern of another total under 50, but the solid batting of Amjad and a captains innings saw the 5th’s past the 50. The draw was secured with a stylish and determined innings from Jack Piper.
