Match report At 12.15pm waiting for his team to arrive, the skipper was feeling quite smug with the knowledge that he had a bowling attack that would trouble any 3rd XI side. During the course of the afternoon, he had lost two of his strike bowlers, when John Palmer was unable to play as a result of an accident and Chippie pulled his hamstring whilst swashbuckling his way to 85 runs.

Losing the toss, we were put into bat and struggled early on - at one stage being 30 odd for 3. John Woodland (33) and Chippie steadied the ship, aided by a late cameo from Steven Thorne that involved some uncharacterisic hitting out, leaving him unbeaten on 43. By the end of our 52 overs, we had a respectable 225.

Chingford took the old ball when play resumed and Cookie made some early in-roads, taking 3 wickets in his first spell, complimented with some tidy bowling at the other end by Thorne. Offord and Coulson then took the new ball and although both bowled reasonably well, neither fulfilled their full potential.

Cookie returned at the top end and produced a great spell, taking a further two wickets ( well done on 2 Michelle's in as many matches). Unfortunately though, we couldn't take the final two wickets inspite of several bowling changes and the match was drawn, as Wickford shut up shop. Had we had the original bowling side that we had anticipated, the result may have swung in our favour.

A special thanks must go to Beth McGregor for standing in for John Palmer at such short notice (well - no notice actually!)
