Match report Skipper won the toss and elected to field first. The track looked a good one and it was felt that we had a team that would be better equipped to chase down a score, rather than bowl a side out. This was proven so, when we had an agonising time chasing leather all around the park as the opposition notched up 278 for 3. Wickets were scarce and inspite of a number of bowling changes, Chingford were unable to stem the flow of runs. Westcliffe's opening bat who scored a good fifty against us at home scored a hundred this time around after being dropped twice. Fielding was difficult on a lightening outfield with reasonably short boundaries.

The opposition declared on 278 and as long as we had a strong start and maintained a decent run-rate, we were in with a chance. Nasser and Chippie had an opening partnership of 100 and both scored attractive half-centuries and the target set seemed within our reach. However, we were always slightly behind the run rate. Woodland made a useful 26 and Carver and Canham batted well together, albeit briefly and had the rate up to over seven an over until Carver fell for 21 from 14 balls, trying to make a shot from nothing. Canham continued trouncing the bowlers, but lost several of his partners along the way and victory slipped from our grasp. Ultimately, we threw several of our wickets away on a track that we should have exploited when batting. Even so, we made a pretty gallant effort as our chasing score of 228 testifies.
