Match report Southgate cried off and a conference fixture was found against Horndon on the Hill A Team. Thorne deserted his side to play for the A Team against the Chinghoppers and Blake captained the side. Chingford lost the toss and Horndon got off to a flying start against some variable bowling. Their best player, a Saturday 1st teamer looked in good touch until Blakey bowled him a good over which culminated in him slashing a cut to Kadri in the gully. The other openor, more circumspect, was the backbone of their innings, scoring 90 odd before Blakey trapped him lbw. The disrupted stumps of three batsmen later (including one blacksock) Blakey took his sweater for the final time. Kadri and Carpenter took slip catches off each others bowling.
With the loss of 2 early wickets, Chingford were unlikely to chase down the Horndon total, despite efforts from their skipper to open the game up with some easy bowling and attacking field positions. Kadri's innings involved Fernandopulle, acting as his runner, following an injury picked up in the field. Smethurst and blake comfortably batted out the final overs to earn a credible draw.
