Match report Michael Blake skippered a side consisting of four 1st teamers who put the runs on the board after he won the toss. Harris reached his 50 off 77 balls and McMurray reached his off 52 balls. Harris and McMurray shared in a stand of 93 for the 3rd wicket. Shawyer scored at more than a run a ball to enable a sporting declaration after 41 overs.
After tea, Old Vics had 44 overs in which to get the runs. After a slow start, they lost wickets regularly. With only 4 wickets down and not many runs on the board, the match looked to be moving towards a boring draw. McMurray and Ben MacGregor came on to bowl, the batters got interested in the target and runs and wickets flowed. With their No 6 at the wicket with 50 to his name, they were finally forced to concentrate on the draw. Their No 11, Tony Barker survived on 0 not out.
