Chingford Cricket Club Indoor U15 A v ILFORD B on Thu 09 Mar 2006 at 9.00
Chingford Cricket Club Lost 16 runs

Match report Four against five, and four won! Unfortunately for Chingford, we had five, and lost! A late withdrawal (an hour and a half before the match) meant no chance to get anyone else in. As it happened, it shouldn't have mattered as Ilford had 2 players who didn't turn up. Ilford batted first, and a tidy opening five overs from Tommy Hayden, making his debut, and Alfie, restricted the runs, only for an onslaught later on, primarily by Prity, to post a high score - despite a wicket for Will - but one we had a good chance of reaching if we found the inevitable gaps in the field. Half way to the total with 6 overs gone, it was looking good as Alfie and Tommy scored steadily with plenty of 3's. Two run outs (Jay and Tommy) didn't help the cause but Anthony powered four 6's in his 52 before being caught and bowled. Alfie returned, played steadily, but was caught off the wall 16 runs short of the target, still with 2 overs left. This was a fighting performance, but we missed the everpresent Charlie's batting and Sam's bowling when the chips were down.

Overall, a very creditable first season, with the lads being in contention for first place right up to the end. A lot of lessons learned about the indoor cricket game to take into next season.
