Match report The Bs final game of the season was against Ford Sports A, who our Cs had beaten 2 weeks earlier. C team skipper, Mark Campbell came in to strengthen the batting and Stephen Thorne replaced Richard MacGregor who had just had a toe operation. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl is an automatic decision first thing in the morning. However, Luke O'Reilly was still having his breakfast at 8.45am and Alfie had to sub field until he arrived. The opposition were late arriving and as a result the match was reduced to 10 overs a side.
Thorne got the first breakthrough with his first ball, LBW. Lyon's wickets were caught keeper and bowled. O'Reilly picked up a couple, with O'Sullivan taking a catch off two walls. All Chingford bowlers (including Sullers) were in excellent form and Ford Sports never got going.
Batting, Peters and O'Sullivan started slowly with no need to hurry. O'Sullivan's greater fluency made him favourite to reach 25 first. However, a bad call from Peters caused his run out. This was the pair's first run out of the season. Campbell came in with only 7 needed and fittingly, skipper Peters hit (of course not - nudged) the winning runs.
The Bs hung around to see Goodmayes beat Hainault which ensured that the Bs were divisional winners. Next week the the Cs play their last match against bottom club Woodford Green, needing to win to ensure that they stay up. The As also play their last game.
