Eton Manor v Chingford Cricket Club Sun B on Sun 01 Jun 2003 at
Chingford Cricket Club Won 2 wickets

Match report Eton Manor were playing their last season at their ground prior to it being developed. Chingford were thus playing their last fixture at the ground.
Eton Manor took first use of a beautifully flat pitch with decent and even bounce. They got off to a good start against variable Chingford bowling. David Joslin, and occasional bowler with a penchant for the erratic of line was probably the best bowler, making use of the pace in the wicket. However, the highlight of Chingford's performance in the field was Stephen Thorne, who made a mess of the batters stumps. Regrettably it was with his boot, in response to the umpire calling a wide 'a wide'.
Van Nierkirk found the bounce in the pitch much to his likeing, bringing back memories of pacey wickets of his South African childhood. He rode his luck whilst his batting colleagues succumbed to fairly ordinary bowling. As evening started to close in, so did the weather and it started to rain heavily. At this stage of the game any result was possible. We probably should have come off for a draw but to their credit, Eton Manor were happy to continue and Chingford won a close game in the closing stages of the last 20 overs.
