Match report Wanstead won the toss and decided to bowl first. Scoring got off to a slow start as Wanstead applied the pressure through some accurate bowling, but both Ben Gordon and Andrew MacGregor were striking the ball well. Ben was the first to go when he was bowled in the second over for four runs. William Armstrong-Fox was next in and although he and Andrew tried to stabilize the innings Andrew was also bowled shortly afterwards for just four runs. William carried the innings forward top scoring with 17 and a late flurry of runs from Daniel Lawrence and Alfie Leachman took the Chingford score to 72-3, their highest total this season.

Wanstead started their innings slowly, losing their first wicket to a run out by Andrew Kelly when the score was on thirteen. After surviving a number of near run outs they took their score onto 48 before the next wicket fell to a run out, this time by Alfie Leachman. At 48-2 the advantage was clearly with Wanstead, but a superb second over by Andrew MacGregor, in which he took three wickets, saw Wanstead reduced to 51-5 with the advantage swinging back to Chingford. Wanstead's last man held his nerve and although there were again several close run out decisions they passed Chingford's score with two overs to spare.

In all a thoroughly good performance by the entire team with everyone contributing. Although disappointed at losing, they can take heart from the way they competed in the last league match of the season. Next week the cup! Bring on St Aubyn's!
