Fives & Heronians v Chingford Cricket Club Sat 3rd on Sat 10 Jun 2006 at 1.30
Chingford Cricket Club Won 144 runs

Match report Half of last week's 4th team (M Blake, S Hart, R Williams, R Coulson and S Sharma) were called up to replace absent 3rd team players with Charlie Fox playing as a late replacement. Missing were R Offord, C Baldock, N Noori, M Joyce, D Joslin and D Carver.
Chingford won the toss and chose to bat first on a belter of a track on a hot sunny day. Chipchase had a disagreement with his car which delayed his arrival at the crease until No5. Peters stepped in as emergeny opener and hit the first ball for four. With Williams also scoring quickly, 33 came from the first 5 overs befor the bowling tightened and the scoring rate dropped to 5 an over. Peters was out in the 13th over with 69 on the board. However, the scoring rate increased back up to 6 an over as Sharma got stuck in. These two added 94 with Williams reaching his fifty just ahead of Sharma, who overtook him. Both fell in quick succession to leave Chingford 166-3 off 25 overs. Williams knock included 2 sixes. Sharma was the only player all day to be out, bowled. Chipchase and Shawyer not only maintained the 6 an over scoring rate but increased it to over 7 an over. Chipchase reached his 50 first off 34 balls and Shawyer's 50 also came off 34 balls. The declaration came at the end of the 39th over.
After tea, Coulson swung the new ball and Blake settled into an accurate line and length. Blake got an lbw with 27 on the board. Before he ended his first spell he had picked up 2 more wickets to leave Fives 41-3. Canham rotated the bowling in an attempt to keep wickets falling. When the remaining opener fell to Thorne, Fives were 83-6 and the game looked as good as won. A seventh wicket partnership ate up over after over. It was finally broken when the batter tried to hit Coulson over the top, skied it and Fox circled underneath to take a key catch. Getting the 8th wicket seemed just as difficult. Canham tried bowler No7, Fox to bowl his leg spin. His first delivery endused the No7 bat to hit the ball low to Hart who help the catch. Blake, who had already been re-introduced into the attack, was on hand to dismiss the blacksocks. The last 3 wickets fell for 4 runs. The final wicket came in the 52nd over, the last 4 overs not being used.
Excellent Chingford outfielding made up for a below-par keeping performance from Peters. 8 catching chances came Chingford's way and all 8 were held.
This win moves us up the table to 3rd.
