Match report Mark Campbell lost another toss and we were stuffed in again, Southend admitted that thier batting was weak. We lost Capt Campbell to the 2nd ball but Woodland and Rashid played sensibly to put on 100 before the usual collapse set in. The out of nick Steve Hart was not helped by being given out LBW by his brother for 2, however the Gods of Cricket had their revenge when Queenie got a nasty one and joined the primary club again. We were all out for 175 with an over or so to go. At least we got 6 points. The Peter May ground was acceptable, the pitch was very dry and batsmen never felt in, the outfield was again a bit on the long side and teas were ok. Coulson and Blake took the new ball and Blakey got through the opener's defence to bowl him off bat and pad, 2 and 3 stuck around for ages only playing occasional attacking shots, Mark changed the bowling often and at last Hart induced a rash shot and then wickets started to fall. Despite Hart and Blake getting four each Southend never tried to win and only wanted 150 for an extra point, with one ball to go and the score on 148-9 poor old Blakey bowled his only bad ball and got clipped for 4. A points split of 10- 6 was a little unfair on Chingford who played most of the cricket.
