Match report Chingford began their 2006 league 1 campaign with a comprehensive win at Shenfield. Skipper Shaun McMurray lost the toss and Shenfield elected to bat on what appeared a pretty flat track for batting. This proved to be the case as Shenfield got off to a reasonable start with their openers J.Webber (45) and M.Weaver (33) putting on 73 for the opening partnership until Mac Meade (2-36) removed both in quick succession which turned out to be the turning point in Shenfields innings. With Odedra (2-48) bowling tightly at one end the runs really began to dry up for Shenfield and Angelo Bass (5-42) took advantage of this pressure bowling a superb spell of leg spin at the other end which ripped through the Shenfield batting line up and left them 180 all out on what appeared a good batting track. Chingford in reply got off to a good start with Jamie Hill (30) and Ben MacGregor (26) putting on 60 for the opening partnership and looking in no trouble at all. But then Macgregor needlessly ran out Hill and Macgregor shortly followed leaving Chingford 65 for 2 and giving Shenfield hope. Meade (28) had useful partnerships with both Rhone and Odedra until Meade was removed leaving Chingford 102 for 4. This is where the wickets ended as Odedra (57 not out) and McMurray (23 not out) guided Chingford to victory with overs to spare giving Chingford a solid start to the season with 18 points recorded.
