Match report MacGregor captained Chingford in place of the injured Rhone. Early on, Daniels found the outside edge, and Peters, playing as substitute keeper, left the edge for McMurray who was still no doubt thinking about his missed slip catch from the day before. Had Peters taken the catch, he would have found the hits cricket web-package unable to credit him with the victime as it doesn't credit sub-fielders with catches, so all ended well. After lunch, Taylor took over the gloves, and O'Sullivan replaced Peters for the rest of the day. McMurray, seeing that the pitch was taking spin, bowled his offies instead of his seamers today. With inconsistant bounce in the track, this was the most helpful day for the bowlers. MacGregor demonstrated the true art of captaincy by bowling himself the most overs of anyone and claiming 5 wickets in the process. Offies Thorne and McMurray had to take 2nd and 3rd place today to Chingford's latest young offie. Anthony 'Spanner' Peek claimed a couple of wickets with some flight and turn including a well executed clean bowled. Had Chinghoppers turned up with an 11th player, he would probably have got a third wicket. However, a score of 233 seemed a reasonanly good effort given the surface.
The Chingford reply was solid. O'Sullivan, became increasingly unhappy with playing McMurray's sleeping partner and got himself out. Danields, after his previous day's exploits was promoted to No 3 but bowled round his legs not offering a shot. McMurray who never seemed to be at his happiest, got himself out soon after tea. Whitfield and Shawyer made batting look very easy and steered Chingford towards victory. Despite the fall of a couple of wickets, a win was never in doubt and the match was wrapped up just before the start of the 20 overs.
This was the first game this week not to end in a close finish. It was still an entertaining day though.
