Match report A tight low scoring game brought Chingford's first win of the season. Bowling first everyone contributed with accurate bowling and good out-fielding. A big improvement in accuracy on previous games meant that only 13 runs came from extras. Beth bowled tightly and picked up three wickets as the opposition lacked patience, especially as Aiden was bowling with hostility at the other end causing batsmen to play hurried aerial shots which the fielders clung on to. Billy especially excelled taking three catches in the opening half a dozen overs. All the support bowlers made sure that their enthusiastic opponents could not regain the initiative. Andrew managed to deceive two batsmen with his spin, one the victim of a smart stumping from James.
Batting Chingford had to endure a very hostile spell from a very quick young opening bowler, but batted sensibly picking up the three runs an over which were needed for victory. Elliot carried his bat for 26, settling the teams nerves whenever things threatened to get tight with some clean hitting and sensible running between the wickets. In the end the main threat to victory appeared to be from the increasingly heavy rain, but the winning runs were struck with an over and a half to spare for the loss of only two wickets.
