Match report We lost the toss and were asked to bat by a side who had not managed to win a game this season. The opening two bowlers made that hard to believe as they kept us quiet for 4 overs. The last ball of the fourth over saw the dismissal of Peters, who had struggled to score off short of a length quick bowling. Campbell senior, who had looked comfortable without managing to score off a left armer, fell the next over. The change bowlers were not of the same calibre but still managed to pose problems for our middle order, bowling both Taylor and Campbell junior. Hart joined Rashid with the job of batting the overs. Hart was in search of his first run of the season, a target he achieved. The pair were strangeley running well between the wickets and it looked as though we might post a defendable score. However, both fell to tight run outs that were blameless. Rashid demonstrated once again his ability to hang around and make a score when everyone else has messed up.
Getting early wickets was going to be key and Taylor got the first in the first over, bowling one opener. Rashid bowled the No3 off a no ball in his first over, which included a handfull of such transgressions. The oppo were scoring quickly so wickets became more vital. In Rashid's second over, their No3 knicked the ball to Peters and the pressure was back on. Campbell gave the remaining opener some problems and would have had him caught at slip if there had been one and caught at gully if Rashid had been standing closer. This pressure was taken advantage of by Hart who had the opener well caught by Rashid off his first ball. After an excellent first over, with the batting looking nervous, Taylor was re-called to try and get more quick wickets. Unfortunately there was not quite enough pressure to put on the young batters, who in an unconvincing manner passed our total.
