Chingford Cricket Club Indoor Sat C v South Loughton A on Sat 20 Jan 2007 at 9.45
Chingford Cricket Club Lost 71 runs

Match report Still searching for our first win of the season, the Cs took on mid table South Loughton A, who were relegated last season. Winning the toss, Chingford took the field. They had a left handed opener who was keen to run his threes. This meant they got off to a fast scoring start but he managed to run out two of his colleagues in the process. Anthony Peek was involved in both, and completed the second with a direct throw. Nasser Rashid bowled his overs straight through and only gave away one wide and one no ball. He also managed to clean bowl the No 3 in his first over. We were not able to maintain our wicket taking rate and the No 1 retired. The No 5 batted steadily for his 25 and we were able to get a number of dot balls bowling at the No 6. However, if they batted their overs they were always looking at a score of over 100. What let us down was the performance of W. Ides. His contribution to the total was 27. He took a particular liking to Adam Campbell, whose figures otherwise would have been good. Peek's bowling was probably bettet than his figures show and Coulson just had the one bad over.
The regular opening pair of Peters and Campbell dropped down the order to No 4 and 5 in the search for a winning formula. After four overs, Rashid and Peek were still together but we had fallen behind the asking rate. Peek had obviously been watching Ian Bell running between the wickets as he failed to respond quick enough to Rashid's call for a 3. Rashid fell soon after. Coulson showed interest in running a 3 but failed to call Mark Campbell for the run and was sent back to be run out. Peters and Campbell thus found themselves at the crease at the half way point. The scoring rate was not increasing and when Peters fell, hope of getting anywhere near the target went. The Campbells fell in quick succession and we were bowled out with overs to spare.
The Cs are finding it tough this year. In our remaining 3 fixtures, we probably need 2 wins to ensure we avoid relegation. Collectively we need to bowl a lot straighter and bat a lot better.
