Match report Chingford lost toss again for the 3rd time running. Skipper got it wrong yet again. Ilford decided to field, but after a tinge of negotiation Ilford decided to bat. The one proviso that the skipper didn’t open the bowling – BIG MISTAKE!!!!. Adam bowled the first over and with his 3rd ball bowled Ilford’s skipper. Beth opened the other end and bowled her three over straight off. She bowled with a 3-1 split field, and with figures of 2 for 7 bowled magnificently. Take away just the one ball directed down the leg side which went for 3, and the figures speak for themselves. Mean while Adam and Shak alternated their overs from the other end (dare I say making a game of it – NOPE, better not) Carey took over from Beth know she was some act to follow, and just about managed it. Thank goodness there wasn’t a 3rd over to bowl, courtesy of Shak getting the final wicket, caught of course by Carey. The fielding all round was class – well done to all, especially Mark Lawrence.

Opening with Mark and Shak, unfortunately Shak was out in the first over. Mark playing his first match for almost a decade didn’t fair any better. Beth then joined Mark. Mark batted with great responsibility but after Beth was dismissed, he followed shortly after. Adam was cleaned up almost straight away, leaving Carey to get the final 9 runs from the last over. 3 off the first ball and fruitless searching for the ball on the next 5 meant Ilford ran out the winners.

My thanks go out to Paul Hart for succeeding in getting 6 players. I was very proud to play my last indoor match with these 5 guys and thank them for giving me such an exciting game. Ilford on their part played the game in good spirit, again much appreciated.
