Match report An unchanged a team took on 3rd placed Walthamstow, bowling first. Hales and MacGregor again bowled the first 6 overs and immediatly put Walthamstow under pressure. This pressure resulted in a run out and a catch for Whitfield off Hales. When MacGregor induced a caught and bowled, Walthamstow found themselves 27-3 off 4 overs. Taylor and Whitfield took over at the half way stage with the score at 39-3. Whitfield bowled with the sort of control he had last week conceding only 1 wide and 1 no ball in his spell. Taylor was not quite at his best and Walthamstow scored quickly off both. 40 runs came off their first three overs, enabling one batter to retire. Their No 6 was allowed to play with freedom and scored a quick 25. Their opener returend to help them to a respectable score.
O'Sullivan and Shawyer paced the inning well. They were a bit behind the asking to rate to start with but stayed together. When they both retired, Chingford had established a big advantage. At the half way point we had scored exactly at the asking rate at 62-0. This gave the freedom to the middle order to take chances. As it happened all 3 took changes and perished. MacGregor however was looking comfortable and despite O'Sullivan being dismissed on his return to the crease, Chingford were ahead of the asking rate. Shawyer returned and carried on where he had left off. The winning runs were score at the beginning of the last over to give Chingford a comfortable 2 wicket win.
