Match report The Under 11s played their second match at Peter May this season. Ilford are known to be a good side and the opening bowlers bowled straight. Andrew MacGregor was good enough to survive but Daniel Lawrence was bowled out first ball. Harry Holdsworth soon fell the same way and Chingford were in trouble. MacGregor was intent on survival but a more confident Alfie Leachman found the bowlers to his liking. He drove the slow bowler well and gave Chingford some much needed momentum. The pair started to run between the wickets with more confidence and after a couple more blows, Leachman reached 25 and retired. Tom Goodland did not last long, but when he was out, Ben Gordon had still not arrived, so could not bat. Fortunately for Chingford, this meant that Leachman could continue his innings. MacGregor, who had not looked at his best, battled well to get his 25 and gave valuable support. Leachman was left the last over to bat alone and rounded off the innings well, bringing up his 50 off the last ball.
97 is a very credible score and certainly competitive. Chingford were now boosted by the arrival of Gordon, enabling him to bowl.
