Chingford Cricket Club Lost 2 Wickets

Match report Chingford lost the toss and were put in to bat. After a decent opening partnership of over 20 between Andrew and Beth MacGregor, Chingford lost four quick wickets including the two openers to leave the score on about 30 after 6 overs. This left the last two batsmen, William Armstrong-Fox and William Russell, with the difficult job of using up all the overs and trying to build a competitive score.

William Russell, playing in his first indoor match, batted positively for 22 not out including 2 sixes and a four. He was well supported by William Armstong-Fox who batted watchfully for 15 not out. An excellent partnership under pressure took the score to 67 and gave Chingford something to bowl with.

The Fives' batsmen started well with some sharp running between the wickets and built the score to about 30 without any real alarms. Then Alex Gordon struck taking two wickets in two balls to pull Chingford back into the match. Once again Fives got on top with a productive partnership to take the score into the mid fifties. Andrew MacGregor then entered the attack and took two wickets in two balls (with Elliot Saggers taking the second of his two catches) to leave Fives needing 6 runs off the last four overs with two wickets in hand including a previously retired batsman. This Fives achieved without further loss. A good game of fluctuating cricket which in the end saw Chingford pay for missing two or three good run out chances.
