Chingford Cricket Club Jabbari's Giants v Baldock's Bears on Fri 29 Dec 2006 at
Chingford Cricket Club Won 1 wicket

Match report After skipper Jabbari's first over, Shawyer got the first breakthrough in the second over, dismissing Hayden with only 15 on the board. Jabbari got the second wicket, bowling Edmonds in the third over. By the end of the 4th over, Baldock's Bears were 39-2, thanks mainly to O'Sullivan who retired soon after. Baldock in at No4 was joined by Whitfield. Progress was slow against Taylor's spin, even during the first power play. Thorne gave strong support and at the halfway point, the Bears were 62-2. Although Baldock was run out, Whitfield reached his 25 and retired. After 12 overs, they were well placed at 111-3. Blake was bowled by Shawyer which brought O'Sullivan back to the middle to join Hart. With the power plays out of the way, the Giants were able to keep the batting in check despite no further wickets falling. A score of 138 was probably less than what they could have got.
The Giants also lost a wicket in the second over when Rhone hit Hayden into the ceiling only to see the bowler get under the catch. Peters was looking to get after Whitfield's bowling and advanced down the wicket to be greeted by two beamers. The dual ended when Peters dragged a ball into his stumps. Taylor joined Shawyer, needing to steady the innings and after 4 overs the score was 34-2. Baldock had chosen to use the two power plays together from overs 3-10. This gave a good opportunity to Taylor and Shawyer to get ahead of the asking rate. At the halfway stage, they had carried the score along to 72-2. Both reached the retirement score and the Giants were well in control even with Jabbari and Thorne new at the crease. With the power plays now over, these two did well to keep the momentum going. Even though both were dismissed with the score on 113, with Taylor back at the crease the Giants were still in control. After 12 overs the score was 122-4 when Blake came on to bowl his second over. Taylor hit the ball straight at Whitfield and was gone. The next over Whitfield came back to bowl his last over and dismissed the returning Shawyer. This left Fox, as last man standing needing to score another 9 runs to secure victory off 11 deliveries. He survived the remaing balls of Whitfield's over and left himself the task of scoring 7 off Blake's six balls. 5 were scored off the first two balls followed by a wide and 3 leg byes. Jabbari's Giants had appeared to throw away a strong winning position only for the match to turn their way in the last over.
