Chingford Cricket Club Lost 72 Runs

Match report Chingford lost the toss and fielded first. Alex Gordon and William Armstrong-Fox bowled tidly in the opening overs keeping the Wanstead batsmen in check. However Wanstead are an excellent side and good running between the wickets and strong hitting to the back wall enabled them to build a formidable total even though all the bowling was consistently in the right areas. Wickets fell to Ben Gordon (caught by Andrew MacGregor), Beth MacGregor and William Russell.

In reply William Russell got off to a fast start but when he was out for 13 and Alex Gordon next ball the odds were against Chingford getting close to the Wanstead total. Beth MacGregor hit 25 including a six and three fours but the rest of the batting struggled against very good attacking bowling. A final total of 61 was respectable but the winning margin reflected the difference in average ages between the sides. A good effort from which the younger players in particular can learn.
