Match report Chingford started the new season with a fine win over Loughton in the County Cup. Selecting a young side, owing to the absence of a number of players due to football tournaments, the team took to the field first in this 20 over a side match.

William R and Ben opened the bowling and in the second over Ben achieved the breakthrough as one of the Loughton openers was caught by Andrew MacGregor. Further inroads into the Loughton batting order took place when Harry took two more wickets in the sixth over as Loughton were reduced to 29-3.

Loughton needed to rebuild and so they did, as their batsmen started to accumulate runs taking the score onto 74 in the 15th over, before a further three wickets fell in quick succession to the biowling of Andrew MacGregor (2) and Jack Rhodes (1). At the end of the Loughton innings they had scored 95-6.

Chingford's innings was opened by William Evans and Andrew MacGregor both of whom played sensibly as they steadily accumulated the runs required. Andrew took the lead in pushing the innings forward whilst William played the all important anchor role. Together they took the Chingford score past the 50 mark without losing a wicket. When the partnership reached 68 Andrew was deceived a by a ball that kept low and was bowled for 25.

Enter Daniel Lawrence who played a short cameo innings in which he scored a six in his total of 15. At the other end William, batting with increasing confidence, continued to accumulate runs as Chingford closed in on the Loughton total.

The total was reached with two overs to spare and William had batted through the entire innings!

This was a great start to the new season and the improvement brought about by playing indoor cricket was evident for all to see. The next round of the cup will be against the winners of Hawks v Buckhurst Hill.
