Warmest congratulations from everyone at Chingford CC to our own Dan Lawrence, who has been selected in the England side for the First Test in Sri Lanka. Dan is England player 697, and was awarded his England Cap by James Foster. Dan made his first International half-century on debut before being dismissed for an excellent 73, and then in the 2nd innings helped steer England home to victory with an unbeaten 21.
Dan has now completed a remarkable journey from Chingford Colts through all the Chingford xis starting in the 5th team all the way to the 1st team, then Essex 2nd and 1st xi, then England Lions and now the England Test side.
The only two Chingford players to have previously represented England in the Club's long history are Doug Insole and Robin Hobbs.
Well done Dan, you are Chingford's pride and joy !
