Ted Sandrock - 100 Not Out !

24 Jan 2021

Tuesday 26 January 2021 is a very special day at Chingford CC. Our sincerest congratulations from all at the Club go to our oldest member and Life Vice President Ted Sandrock who has reached 100 years of age.

It is interesting to look back and see that Ted played for the Club for 23 seasons, before retiring in 1971. He made his debut in 1949 and was a tenacious opening batsman, scoring 9,039 runs for Chingford according to the Club records we have. Ted also made six centuries for the Club.

Ted also coached the Colts for an incredible number of years and many of us are so grateful to him for all his efforts in showing us not only how to play but more importantly how we should properly represent the Club. Indeed we all have many happy memories of practising picking up the bat and the backlift time and time again! The legacy of Ted's work here was a wonderful crop of players, many of 1st xi ability who served the Club for many years.

Ted was elected Club President from 1981-1983 in recognition of all his hard work and commitment over the years for Chingford CC. Indeed various members of the Sandrock family have been ever presents in the Club's long history, going right back to the Club's formation.

Ted was also Chinghoppers' President in 1989 and remains a Life Vice President of our Sister Club.

After a short drinks break, where we shall raise our glasses, we all look forward to Ted continuing his innings !
