Match report Od man returns to fold
FORMER Indian international Niraj Odedra is being welcomed back to Chingford Cricket Club for a second season. He will once again be the club's professional player and is hoping to match the off-spin bowling and electric batting that took the club by storm last year. Odedra was Chingford's leading run scorer with 1094 runs which earned him the club's Jack Watson Trophy for his efforts.

The 30-year-old played first-class cricket in India from 1998-2004 and has recently gained his Stage One cricket coaching certificate. Jamie Hall, club captain, said: "The return of Niraj is a major boost for the club. Hopefully his single mindedness and will to win, will rub off on the other players in our bid for promotion to the Essex Premier League."

Meanwhile Chingford has endured mixed fortunes in a series of pre-season friendlies. Chingford 212-8 declared, (Ben MacGregor (67), Odedra 50), St Albans 213-0, winning by 10 wickets. And on Sunday, Chingford 225-7 (Shaun McMurray 117, Odedra 60), Hadleigh 150-7.
