Match report In an extraordinary encounter Chingford won the toss and asked Shenfield to take first knock. As an experiment the visitors opened the bowling with spinner Niraj Odedra and seamer Kerry Marriott which was to prove crucial. Odedras first 10 overs conceded just 5 runs whilst Marriott though more expensive picked up wickets at regular intervals reducing Shenfield to 40 for 5 after 17 overs. Only opener Tappin (28) could make any headway whilst Weber(16) and Hindley(23) did threaten some recovery. Chingford were not to be denied the benefit of the early successes however as Shenfield finally folded to 116 all out in the 47th over with Marriott taking 6 for 49 and Odedra 3 for 33 from 23 overs aided by Paul Shawyer who took 4 excellent outfield catches. All seemed set fair as Ben McGregor(26) and Paul Shawyer(11) rattled up 44 in just 8 overs. The introduction of Hindley suddenly tipped the scales as both openers departed to be quickly followed by Odedra for nought with the score still on 44. Sam Kirnon addressed the situation in typical fashion blasting 3 fours and a six in his innings of 18, but once again 3 wickets fell on the same score as Runciman and O Sullivan departed for ducks. Shenfield were suddenly in the box seats as Chingford floundered on 63 for 6. This paired Shaun McMurray and Nick Shawyer who remarkably took the game away from Shenfield in spectacular fashion scoring 56 from just 6 overs to secure victory by 4 wickets, Nick Shawyer playing the starring role spanking 9 fours in scoring 38 not out.
