CHINGFORD finally said goodbye to their promotion hopes after their recent poor run continued with a drawn game against Ardleigh Green on Saturday. The visitors' attack was put to the sword after they asked the opposition to bat first on a wet wicket. Jayasuria with an unbeaten 133 was mainly responsible for the home side's challenging total of 244 for 2.
Chingford's reply was disastrous as they were soon reduced to 42-5. A dogged rearguard action led by Shaun McMurray with an unbeaten 48 somehow enabled the visitors to gain an unlikely draw, as they held out for 151-8.
