Match report Shenfield won the toss and elected to bat. Similar to the previous week they got off to a fast start with over 50 on the board without loss after 11 overs. However, Chingford fought back well with Andy Perrin, Steve Piper and Richard MacGregor all bowling tightly and picking up wickets so that after 52 overs Shenfield declared on 178 for 9.

In reply Chingford lost their second wicket on 30 but a good partnership between Peter Joslin and Darren Ross came to an end with the unfortunate run-out of Peter Joslin after a mix up in the calling. Darren Ross completed his 50 before he was the fourth wicket to fall with the score at 120. An excellent partnership between Mike Lyon and Paul Adshead then took Chingford within sight of victory (15 runs needed off 6 overs with 6 wickets in hand) before Mike Lyon managed to hit a full-toss straight up in the air and was caught. This precipitated a mini collapse which left Chingford needing 2 to win off the final over with 2 wickets left. Paul Adshead kept calm and smacked the third ball of the over for 4 runs to win the game. A good win against very good opposition but one that should have been completed with more to spare.
