Match report On a blistering hot day Chingford played the team in second place, Benfleet. Benfleet won the toss and elected to bat. Disciplined bowling by all the bowlers on a decent batting track saw Benfleet conserve their wickets but at the cost of a slow run rate. After the thirty over mark the home side accelerated but started to lose wickets steadily eventually being bowled out for 184 just before the 52 overs. Special mention should go to Andy Perrin, Jon Dyers and Steve Thorne for their bowling performances. The contribution of Sanjay Sharma also deserves mention as he bowled an important spell taking the first wicket and made good ground, although suffering from a pulled groin, to catch Benfleet's best player.

In reply a steady start from Rob Runciman and Peter Joslin was broken with the score on 37 and the second wicket fell at 49. An impressive partnership by Biily Rhone and Darren Ross, on a pitch that began to deteriorate, took Chingford to 112 before Biily Rhone (46) departed quickly followed by Mike Lyon and Jon Dyers. Paul Shawyer (32 not out) then steadied things and with Darren Ross (53 not out) took Chingford to victory with a couple of overs to spare.

An excellent team performance which was reflected in the Man of the March award.
