Match report In the first Chess Valley League game of the season Chingford won the toss and elected to bat. After Ben MacGregor and Sanjay Sharma were dismissed cheaply an excellent stand between Greg Hales and Paul Shawyer provided a good base for some powerful acceleration in the latter overs of the innings by Greg, who finished with a superb 126 not out, and Shaun McMurray. This gave Chingford a very competitive total on a pitch which offered some assistance to the bowlers.

In reply Bessborough never got up to the asking rate after some very tight bowling from Niraj Odedra and lost wickets regularly, finally being bowled out in the 41st over for 151. The match was marked by that rarest of events, a devastating bowling spell by Billy Rhone who managed to take the final two wickets.
