Chingford Cricket Club Won 6 Wickets

Match report This will be remembered as Lyon's match. Bowling first, Chingford were doing a good containing job. However at the half way stage, Horndon had only lost 2 wickets and were looking like posting a score in excess of 200. Mike Lyon, at this point in his second team career was regarded as no more than an occasional medium pace bowler who Richie Mac could use if there was nothing in the pitch for the spinners. Lyon took the ball and from the outset, bowled an immaculate line and length. The skipper brought himself on at the other end and bowled his usual tidy stuff. In the space of 10 overs, these two ran through the batting with the help of 3 catches from Peters. (having a rare good day keeping in Met Police type conditions)
After taking 5 for 6, most bowlers would be happy to put their feet up in the pavillion and watch the batters knock them off. However, Mike Lyon, not yet really thinking of himself as a bowler was still keen to bat at No3 and was called to the wicket early on. Needless to say he batted Chingford to victory with a nice little half century.
