Match report Richard MacGregor came into the B team in place of an unavailable Dan Carver. SL B had lost their first two games, and when they turned up a player short, we expected few problems from them. Chingford batted first and Richard Alston and Peter Joslin got us off to a good start. Alston had made 19, when Joslin called him for a sharp three that most people would have completed, however Alston was narrowly run out. Graem Peters at No 3 kept the scoring rate up and saw Joslin reach 25 to become the first B team batsman this season to retire. In at No 4 Stephen Thorne also started well, however, Peters was bowled for 24, bringing Richard MacGregor to the wicket. At the half way stage, Chingford had passed 80 and looked set for a score of about 180. MacGregor and Thorne built up the momentum again, and Thorne reached his 25 and retired. MacGregor became the third batsman to reach 25 and retired. In at 6, with less than a couple of overs left, Nasser Rashid was sacrificed in a run out. Joslin was joined at the wicket by Thorne who briefly re-appeared but did not manage to add to his score before being run out. MacGregor returned after a short rest and these two batted to the end of the innings with MacGregor ending on 39 and Joslin 28. 11 Extras gave us a total of 150-4, a very good total. However, after the start, it could have been more.
SL B's batmen batted as if they were more intent on having a net practice. One opener batted almost the entire innings without reaching 25. Joslin, Rashid, Thorne and MacGregor were rotated through their overs and none of them were expensive. Thorne took 2-16 and Joslin was the most economical with 1-11. The other wicket that fell was a run out from a MacGregor direct hit. They finished up with 71-4, a very one sided contest. However, our batsman were grateful for the opportunity to score runs.
