Match report The B Team made it 3 wins out of 4 with a win against Stort. Stort put us in and we made a confident start with Peters and Joslin scoring 20 off the first 2 overs. After 4 overs, the score was 35 but both openers had been run out. The scoring slowed, and when Thorne and Carver were out in quick succession, we had struggled to 40-4 off 6 overs. Batting out the remaining 6 overs became the prime concern for MacGregor and Rashid which they seemed to be managing, whilst adding 20 runs in the next 5 overs. Fortunately, the last over of the innings was our best and we ended up with 78-4.
With no pressure on the batsman to run their scores, Storts openers settled in for a steady start, with Joslin managing to limit their options. Progress was slow with only 10 on the board when in the 3rd over, Carver found the edge, the batsmen made their first attempt to run and Thorne promptly flicked the ball to the keeper to register a run out. Macgregor opened his spell, bowling the fourth over, but was unable to complete his three over spell. In his first over, he managed to clean bowl two batsmen with his first two deliveries. Before the over was up, he picked up a third wicket, also bowled, in a run less over. A Stort recovery seemed unlikely, particularly when Joslin ran out their 5th batsman with a direct hit. Carver successfully tempted their No 6 batsman into hitting a couple of sixes but MacGregor had another over left. He used just one ball of the over, picking up the last wicket with a catch, to return the impressive bowling analysis of 2.1-1-4-5. Stort 38 all out.
