Match report Electing to bat Chingford were soon in trouble against formidable opening bowling which left the home side struggling on 37 for3. Billy Rhone (28) and Nick Shawyer (31) rescued the situation putting on 60 in some style. Both departed however in quick succession to be followed by Sam Kirnon (16) and Shaun McMurray (8). A refreshing and intelligent partnership of 43 between Paul Shawyer(20 n.o) and Ryan Harris (18) gave the final total some respectability at 178 for 8 after the 50 overs. Even so this was a modest target for a team like Malden Wanderers. An early breakthrough was crucial and Len Daniel and Nick Shawyer duly obliged sending both openers packing with just 11 on the board. A brief stand of 28 was broken when Shawyer clean bowled Barnett. An ominous parnership then developed between Euston and Evans but the bowlers kept things tight with the aid of some magnificent fielding, the required run rate began to rise. With the score on 86 Euston holed out off Ben MacGregors second ball which was followed by a suicidal run out in the same over. The tables had dramatically turned, panic set in and the latter batsmen succumbed rather easily against disciplined bowling. Ben MacGregor finished up with a remarkable 5 for 12 as Malden were skittled out for 115.
