Match report Most of the regular A team were playing in the Evening Standard Quarter Final. Greg Hales led a weakened side made up by some B Team players and some players who normally don't play on Sundays. However, he was leading a side of 11, which was one more than the opposition. Mark Lawrence was playing his first game of the season and Mike Lyon his first Sunday game of the season. Odedra and Lyon got off to a quick start before settling down to a scoring rate of 5 an over. Odedra's 50 cam just ahead of Lyon's and, dominating the strike, he was also first to his 100. With wickets falling at the other end, Lyon ascelerated to his own 100, his first for Chingford. At one stage a score approaching 300 seemed possible, and 260 was enough for us to defend in the field.
HH made a steady start but were not allowed to get off to a flier. MacGregor's strangling effect built up the pressure to the point that they were struggling to keep the asking rate below 8 an over. The fact that they had wickets in hand and their openor at the wicket with over 100 to his name meant that they could not have had a successful chase. Odedra, still with a bad kneck, was called on to bowl and with the slog on, picked up his wickets cheaply. HH were bowled out with overs to spare.
