Chingford Cricket Club Indoor Sat B v Chingford C on Sat 08 Oct 2005 at 8.40
Chingford Cricket Club Won 25 runs

Match report Harty won the toss and chose to field first which suited the Bs who were still in the process of waking up. Two mix ups in the first over with the second resulting in O'Sullivan being short of his ground when the ball hit the stumps. However, he remained at the crease as the bails were even slower to wake up than some of the B team. From then on the opening pair ran well and the score moved quickly on, only being kept in check by the brief introduction of Coulson. Hart used 5 bowlers in his first six overs, but significantly, Peters only used 2 batters in his first 5 overs. Peters retired in the 6th over with 50 already posted. O'Sullivan fell in the same over. MacGregor B and Shawyer ran well until MacGregor miss timed a drive off Haigh. MacGregor R came in and found the boundary wall on two occasions before dancing down the track to give Haigh his second wicket. Thorne and Shawyer got the running going again and Peters returned for the last over to help push the score up to an impressive total.
Joslin worked the ball around well early on. Rashid preferred to do battle directly with the bowlers. His battle with O'Sullivan went O'Sullivan's way in the first over but Rashid's way in his second as he twice found the boundary wall. To add to the B team pain, Shawyer, keeping wicket, uncharacteristically dropped a Rashid snick. Joslin was the first to go, being caught in MacGregor Bs first over. At the half way stage the Cs were up with the rate and Rashid had retired. MacGregor R turned the screws and three run outs resulted from the pressure, including the master nurdler, Campbell. Some useful boundary hitting by Haigh kept the Cs in sight. Fighting to keep up with the rate Rashid returned but could not break MacGregor Rs shackles. With no partners left, Rashid took on MacGregor B and gave a return catch with 7 balls to spare.
Despite competing well for much of the game, the Cs came away with no points. Had Rashid managed to bat out the last over from Thorne and score another 10 more runs, the Cs could have finished with 2 points. The Bs got the 10 points they had to get and will have benefitted from receiving such a tough work out in their opening league game.
