Chingford Cricket Club Indoor Sat B v Goodmayes & Blythswood on Sat 03 Dec 2005 at 10.50
Chingford Cricket Club Lost 2 wickets

Match report Three changes from the last side; Matt O'Sullivan went up to the As and Peter Shawyer came down. Peter Joslin and Mark Campbell replaced Stephen Thorne and David Joslin. Being put into bat Chingford made an excellent start if the start can be defined by the first 5 balls of the innings. Peters and Campbell with the help of one extra had scored 13 before Peters snicked the next delivery to the keeper. Campbell and Joslin then built the platform from which all decent totals come from. Campbell retired, Rhone entered and Chingford were nicely placed at the half way stage with 50 on the board and a total of at least 100 in our sights. Rhone drove a couple of fours before holing out - no problem. within site of his 25, Joslin tried hitting instead of nurdling and holed out - a bit of a problem maybe. MacGregor, with licence to hit, drove one back at the bowler - oops. Campbell returned to join Shawyer with still 4 overs left. A little bit of care needed, nudge the ball around, use up the 12 overs, score 110 - no problem. Then Shawyer nudges nicely, Campbell comes for the run, Shawyer doesn't - Campbell run out - bugger. Okay, not a disaster, if Shawyer bats out the 12 overs we get 100. However, with about an over left he is out and we have to make do with a par score.
In the field, let's make sure we bowl tight, keep th pressure on and wickets will fall. MacGregor and Joslin do just that and Goodmayes are 2 down and well behind the clock. Campbell helping out with a smart low catch at mid off. Joslin's bowling was excellent, and had he not have been hit for a six, would have had stunning figures. One opener remained and he accelerated against Rhone and Shawyer. After he retires the lower order batting do their job and run well between the wickets. They get up with the asking rate and despite losing 1 wickets to a run out, get ahead of the rate. Shawyer bowls the last over and with just 4 needed. A couple of dot balls and a run out leave them needing 3 from 3 with the opener returning to the non-strikers end. A scrambled 2 brings him on strike with the scores level and 2 balls left. The next ball was hit straight and high for a six. Game over.
A close game won by the better side on the day. However, this was a match we should have won.
So, half way through the season we have won 2 and lost 2. A dissapointing position to be in after winning our first two games. The good side to this is that we have lost to sides who should not be challenging us for promotion.
