Chingford Cricket Club Indoor Sat B v Stort on Sat 18 Feb 2006 at 9.45
Chingford Cricket Club Won 7 runs

Match report Nick Shawyer and Luke O'Reilly came into the side for Peter Joslin (injured) and Maccy Meade (now ineligible). Stort had won a couple of games to take them up the table to second, 7 points ahead of the Bs. Losing the toss Chingford batted with Graem returning to open the innings. A slower than normal start due to good bowling started to build pressure. After being bogged down, Sully lashed at one and was caught. The scoring rate picked up a bit but Lionheart nicked one to the keeper who juggled and caught it. Nick was looking comfortable until a miss hit ended his innings. Batting at Wanstead is tough for those who like to drive. Graem however was well into his stride and not even the appearance of Richie Mac at the non-stikers end could prevent him reaching his 25. Richie and Luke now had to pace their partnership well as there were still 4 overs left. Thet kept the scoring rate up and with 7 balls to go, Richie did the decent thing and ran himself out to get Graem back in for the last over. The first ball of the last over was wide down the leg side and Graem was stumped. Luke and Graem decided to concentrate on running and with the help of the bowler bowling no balls as well, managed to raise the score to 101, about 10 more than had looked likely at the half way stage.
Nick and Luke opened the bowling and never allowed the openers to get off to a decent start. This early pressure brought the reward of a run out. It was as much as the batters could do to survive. Luke was bowling with good pace and bounce causing problems for both batsmen and keeper. At the half way stage, Stort were nearly down and out, well behind the asking rate even though they still had wickets in hand. However, Chingford's most economical and reliable bowler, Richie Mac, bowled his worst three over spell of the season. Stort were still in with a shout but tight bowling from Lyon left them requiring more than three a ball off the last over, and he was to bowl it. Setting the mid on and mid off back, Chingford were happy to give 3 a ball and did not look like losing the game. Stort got to within 7 but Chingford were comfortable winners.
This win takes Chingford from 7th in the table to equal first alongside Walthamstow B. Our next match is next weekend, against Walthamstow B.
