Chingford Cricket Club Indoor Sat D v BUCKHURST HILL on Sat 26 Nov 2005 at 10.50
Chingford Cricket Club Won 2 wickets

Match report With Richard Alston running late, Paul Hart tossed up with the Buckhurst Hill captain. Paul called 'heads' and it landed 'heads'. Without Richard Alston present, Paul Hart decided to stick them into bat, which the D VI have done all this season.

Paul Hart opened up the bowling from his usual end, the far end as it should be called. With his second delivery, he bowled their very dangerous left handed opening bat, with a lovely inswinger. No runs were scored off the rest of the over as Paul Hart swing the ball beautifully to Buckhurst Hill's number 3, beating the outside edge on a couple of occasions and did manage to find the edge which very unforunately was quite thick, and high up on the bat, that it hit Richard Alston's finely tuned body. Paul Hart picked up the other opening bat in his next over with some extraordinary keeping from Richard Alston to stump the batsmen off a wide ball down the leg side. Richard Aslton did miss out on a stumping the over before from Marc Fletcher, but he did not have the ball in his gloves, but he did the second time and Umpire Goult's finger was up like a flash, to give Paul Hart a second victim and only going for 6 in his two over spell before Richard Alston made a few changes. One of which was relieving Paul Hart and bringing on Alfie Taylor, who stuck in his first over with another fine stumping from Richard Alston with the batsman foot on the crease line, resulting in another decision from Umpire Goult. A mini revival from Buckhurst Hill's number 3 & 5, brought the score past 50 before their number 3 hit Daniel Carver over his hit for 6, to make him retire on 30 with the score on 54. A fine direct hit run out from Antony Peek getting out their number 6 with the score on 61, resulted in the number 3 coming back from retirement. 3 further runs were added when Marc Fletcher was re-introduced into the attack and stuck with his second ball of the over bowling their number 3, resulting in thier number 5 t bat out the remaining 2.4 overs. He only lasted one ball as Marc Fletcher got Umpire Goult's finger out for the third time for LBW. Buckhurst Hill managed 64 from 9.3 overs.

Our innings did not start off as good as we hoped as Paul Hart which promoted to opener to partner Richard Aslton. Richard Alston got 3 leg byes from the first ball, which resulted in Paul Hart facing. With his first ball hit an emuculate cover drive, ran but conincidently was picked up cleanly off the wall by the fielder and threw with a direct hit to run out Paul Hart for 1. The second over resulted in a maiden as Daniel Carver could not get a bat onto the ball. Richard Alston took matters into his own hands in the third over, using his feet well to track the bowler and smashing back a perfectly driven off drive for 4. Richard Alston And Daniel Carver got a couple of 3s off the remainer of the over. Richard Alston managed to upset the line of the other opening bowler getting a one off a no-ball and another 3 to bring Daniel Carver on strike. The bowler's line creeped more into the stumps which resulted in Daniel Carver being given LBW from Umpire Goult. Marc Fletcher lasted only 1 ball as he clearly misjudged the pace and bounce of the deliverly, toeing the ball onto his stumps. With Alfie Taylor at the crease, Richard Alston maintained his free scoring ability before Alfie Taylor became possibly a bit too ambitious of himself and trying to hit one over the head of the spin bowler, which resulted in him being caught and bowled for 6 with the score on 36 with 6 overs to go. Richard Aslton took advance of the spin bowling and managed to get double figure off that over and he would have to retire if he was not with the last man. A further 9 off the next over resulted in the scores being tied and leaving Richard Alston to hit the winning runs and possibly his half century. With their main opening bowler back on, he produced another 5 balls of a tight line and length which Richard Alston could not get away before his last ball was called a no-ball and Richard Alston manage to work the ball away on the leg side for one.

ANother victory for the D VI against a very useful Buckhurst Hill, Walthanstow C awaiting them in their next fixture, who lost to Ford Sports B prior to our match.
