Match report Chingford fans were pleased to see Richard MacGregor pass a late fitness test to retain his place in the starting line up in Sunday's Champions League qualifier at the WACA

After the mat got a good hoovering, the Championship side Keith and the Mechanics elected to take first knock and despite a fruitful first over were soon up against it as the Premiership standard fielding of Chingford's over 40s contingent proved the significant factor, resulting in five run outs.The run outs included an effort from Rhone that hit Blake on the knee to rebound onto the wicket and a race between Tarrant the keeper with the ball and the batsman with the bat to the stumps which he somehow won.

Throughout the innings the MacGrgegors bowled 5 overs for just 17 runs and with Thorpe keeping it tight , the only wicket taker was Blake (1-12) who picked up a wicket near the end as the Championship side were dismissed for 52.

It won't take long to describe our opener's innings, but Rhone played the anchor role. Thorpe having practiced the cowshot several times, attempted one too many to be bowled for 3, to leave specialist number 4 the maestro Tarrant to enter the arena. He smashed a six, but attempting another one lollipoped it up to the bowler to complete yet another innings without running. Some sensible batting by Big Mac (1no) kept the bowlers out enabling first Rhone to retire on 25 and the skipper Blake (6no) to smash the winning boundary and see Chingford home by 3 wickets.

In the Quarter Finals Chingford face an all Premiership tie with High Beach next Sunday with the winners moving forward to Champions League finals night the following week.
