Match report Mixed feelings confronted Chingford on our away visit to struggling Billericay. We wanted to win the match but we hoped that somehow, Billericay could contrive to collect enough points to avoid the drop. The reason was that Billericay's facilities and in particular their pitches, are far superior to anything else we play on in Division 1.
Nick Shawyer dropped down to the 3rds and Mark Lawrence made a rare appearance as a batsman.
All our top order fancied scoring runs on this belter of a wicket and a number did but really failed to take full advantage. No one was more surprised than Stephen Thorne, to get a bat down at No 8. He made the most of it and ensure that we got a score of 200, easily 50 fewer than what we should have scored.
Bowling was hard work, and positive batting from Billericay kept them in the run chase. Some excellent bowling from Offord kept the game close. In the end, Chingford got away with a draw as Billericay ran out of overs, two runs short.
