CHINGFORD suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday despite an excellent contribution from all-rounder Niraj Odedra.
Odedra compiled a composed 87 not out in Chingford's innings before snaring one victim in reply.
But Upminster had too much strength for the visitors and reached Chingford's 215 with five wickets still intact.
The away side's efforts were hampered by a poor start which saw James Hill (15), Macpherson Meade (7) and Brian Pieterson (15) all lose their wickets too cheaply.
Upminster's success was coming from all corners with Alan Ison, Arshad Ali and Oliver Peck claiming two wickets each.
Ben MacGregor (27) and Shaun McMurray (37) offered some support for Odedra, who was the pick of the Chingford batsmen with an undefeated 87, but the visitors would have been disappointed with their effort.
Upminster required solid scoring to take them to Chingford's total, and opening batsmen Michael Rath and Steve Wright gave them just that, adding 87 between them before the away side could get their teeth in to the game.
McMurray's side gave themselves hope by dismissing Rath (41), Wright (47) and Shafiq Rahman (9) quickly, but another profitable partnership between Junaid Sarwar and Ali once again took the contest out of Chingford's reach.
Sarwar notched 34, while Ali piled on the agony with 57 to ease their side home.
Pieterson took two wickets but was expensive, going for 52 from his 11 overs, while Odedra sent down 17 overs and was rewarded with a single wicket.
