CHINGFORD cruised to the top of Division One following a comfortable five-wicket victory at Westcliff on Sea on Saturday, thanks largely to an excellent bowling display by Ryan Harris.

The win follows a series of impressive performances for Epping and they hope to keep the top spot after Chelmsford slipped following a home defeat against Hutton.

The hosts opened the batting, with the visitors' attack being led by the lethal Harris, who finished with outstanding figures of 6-33 off 9.5 overs.

Ryan, who was celebrating his 21st birthday, was backed up by Len Daniels who also excelled with figures of 3-34 off ten overs. Niraj Odedra chipped in with solid figures of a 1-51 from his 17 overs spell.

At the crease, James Runciman (9) was caught early on, although fellow opener Ben Macgregor produced a fine 29 before being trapped LBW. Matt O'Sullivan (2) also perished fairly quickly, but Nick Shawyer (24) put Chingford back on track for victory.
