Match report The A team comfortably overcame their first hurdle defeating the B team on Saturday. Whitfield and Fletcher, both making their A team debuts bowled the first two overs with Fletcher bowling Sharma early on. The second wicket didn't come until two batters had retired, when MacGregor caught and bowled Peters. Rhone and O'Sullivan were pressed into service to bowl three overs between them. Fletcher and MacGregor came together late in the innings to run though the rest of the opposition batting; MacGregor caught MacGregor off Fletcher's bowling, Rhone took a tumbling catch to dismiss Thorne and Whitfield caught Patel. The innings was wound up when Shawyer was smartly run out off the last ball of the 12th over. A total of 120 was easily within reach of the A team batting. O'Sullivan and Shawyer opened the batting and got off to a good start ensuring that the As were always scoring more than the asking rate. The loss of Shawyer and Rhone in quick succession and O'Sullivan reaching his 25 meant that we had Whitfield and MacGregor both new to the crease at the same time. Both looked comfortable until Whitfield miss-timed a drive to bring in Fletcher. These two took the total past 100 and the As were cruising towards a 3 wicket win. However a couple of misjudgements resulted in both being run out and so it was left to the returning O'Sullivan to see the side home to victory with 2 balls to spare.
